The early days: Tool and Die
John Thompson and Bob Schulz began Dynamic as a tool and die shop in 1979, building precise machine parts and dies for the bustling twin plan industry along the US-Mexico border. They drew upon years of design and management experience with the world’s premier gun scope manufacturer, Weaver Scopes. From the beginning, we knew the importance of starting with a well-planned design, building precision components and supporting fabrication lines to keep product moving to our customers.
True to our name, Dynamic has not been driven by our capabilities. Rather, we are driven by our customers’ needs. Our philosophy has always been, “If you need it, we’ll find a way to build it.”
Ramping up: Impact Extrusion
Dynamic quickly expanded into Impact Extrusion in response to an electronics industry client’s need for a new manufacturer for capacitor containers. We acquired the equipment to meet the demand and greatly expanded square footage for manufacturing and raw material storage.
Typical of our approach, we found a way to improve production of the capacitors, so that our customer had a better product than they expected us to produce. Over time, we grew our impact extrusion capabilities and have become one of the leading producer of cylindrical and elliptical cans in the United States.
Diverse Manufacturing: Screw Machining and beyond
It wasn’t long before our customers were so impressed by the quality of our tool and die department’s components and custom-built machines, that they began asking us to quote production of components in volume. With the manufacturing experience of our personnel, we acquired our first screw machines and went right to work producing parts, thousands at a time.
We acquired more equipment, including more sophisticated screw machines, CNC Swiss, CNC mill and rotary transfer machines. The quality of our work and our capacity to keep our production lines rolling has been one of the best-kept secrets in manufacturing in the US and along the Mexican border.
Dynamic has gained a solid reputation as a reliable manufacturer of volume components for a variety of industries.
Tip of the Spear: Design
Dynamic has a unique approach to design: each of our designers started in tool and die and manufacturing. In other words, our design team started as builders. This fact brings value to our customers in that our designers are creating solutions that have a high probability of success. Our AutoCAD drawings are analyzed by our Tool and Die and Machining departments, and the solutions we present our clients are ready for turnkey production.
Our designers design solutions that can actually be manufactured from the outset.
