Impact Extrusion


Dynamic Design and Fabrication began as a tool and die shop in 1979, building precise machine parts and dies for the bustling twin plan industry along the US-Mexico border. Dynamic has always been driven by our customers’ needs. Our philosophy has always been, “If you need it, we’ll find a way to build it.”

Dynamic quickly expanded into Impact Extrusion to serve an electronic industry client’s need for capacitor containers. Typical of our approach, we found a way to improve production of the capacitors so that our customer had a better product than they expected us to produce. Today, we are one of the leading producers of cylindrical and elliptical cans in the United States.

Dynamic specializes in all aspects of impact-extruded aluminum components manufacturing. We do precision extrusion of OEM and custom components.

Dynamic specializes in cylindrical or elliptical cans of up to 20” in length or 6” in diameter. Possible wall thicknesses are as thin as .010″. These capabilities also allow for a length to diameter ratio of up to 10:1, with tolerances of ±0.005″.

Dynamic has innovated a process to more efficiently cut cylinder flanges, increasing precision and decreasing waste.

Dynamic can customize lids to meet almost any specification through a number of secondary operations like punching or drilling holes, forming necks, drawing a part to a longer length, ironing to ensure straightness, CNC turning and CNC milling.

Parts produced using the impact extrusion process are work hardened and supplied as F condition unless otherwise specified. If the final product needs to be supplied in another temper such as T6, Dynamic has the heat-treating capability.

Specialty Finishes Capabilities:

Chromate conversion, hard coat, multi-color anodizing, polishing, buffing, painting or powder coating. Parts may also be branded with numbers, logos, graphics, custom messaging or bar codes.

At Dynamic quality is a high priority and embedded in company culture. This is backed up by ISO 9001 certification as well as full compliance with all applicable ASTM, Mil-Spec, and ITAR standards.

We employ thorough testing, inspection, and QA procedures, incorporating hardness testing, visual and final inspections, CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine), and full process manual QA protocols.
